Adopting a healthier lifestyle can be tough – it means breaking old habits, embracing new foods and often times getting better acquainted with the kitchen.
When it comes to healthy eating, it seems that failing to plan really is planning to fail. Having some go-to recipes is incredibly important. Eating the exact same foods every day is likely to leave you feeling bored and deprived. We need variety! Continue reading →
Between work, family/social commitments, getting kids back into a routine, homework assignments and extracurricular activities, fall can be an incredibly hectic time of year. Many parents are left time-starved and feel drained at the thought of packing lunches and preparing after school snacks. It can also be challenging to find inspiration for healthy snacks that kids actually want to eat.Continue reading →
I’ve always had a weak spot for pancakes, waffles and pastries. As a result, enjoying breakfast seemed to be particularly tough after going gluten free. As I began to learn more about how high-sugar breakfasts contribute to overeating, mood swings, blood sugar imbalances and hormone fluctuations though, I quickly began to see the benefit in embracing healthier options.
While these days I usually opt for breakfast dishes that include lots of greens and healthy fats, I must admit I love to indulge in a good breakfast ‘treat’ from time to time. Continue reading →
Although I often avoid sweets, I always have a few ‘treat’ recipes on-hand to help me stay on track. (Hey, if I’m going to indulge, I’d much rather it be with something that tastes great but doesn’t contain weird ingredients or any dietary triggers for my MS.)Continue reading →

Just like we focus on spring cleaning for our homes, our bodies can use a little spring cleanup too.Continue reading →
For many people, murky-looking concoctions resembling swamp water are what first come to mind when envisioning a ‘green’ smoothie. While I’ll be the first to admit that Krishn and I can be a bit hardcore with our smoothies and enjoy green combos that can send others running, it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, a ‘green’ smoothie doesn’t need to actually look green at all.
If you’ve been wanting to incorporate more greens into your breakfast but just can’t wrap your head around gulping back a green drink in the morning, than this smoothie is for you. There are so many options for flavouring smoothies to your liking and while these nutrient-dense beverages shouldn’t typically contain a lot of fruit, you can absolutely use fruits that are lower in sugar to offset the bitterness of the greens and ‘hide’ the fact that they’re even in there.Continue reading →
